Words and Numbers at Art Journal Journey

Welcome to Yvonne Aka Meggymay who is the new host at Art Journal Journey.

The month of December is difficult where everything has to go into a higher whole.
I love the city light and I have to learn how to take it easy.

That is why I think of nature and especially the forest where there is silence.

Unfortunately I got too much fixatif sprayed on my drawing so it is a bit fuzzy.
I hope you can see my opinion anyway. (LOL)

I wish all my readers good holidays and may you come well into the new year 2020.
Hugs, Susan

A*J*J - "Fruit & Veggies" November 2019

In Art Journal Journey this month of November, it is Rike that
hosts a new topic "Fruit & Veggies"
The first thing that struck me was the apple. I love big juicy apples.

I think this quote fits well and that it tells me not to give up.

Last weekend I was with an old colleague at a fair in Frederica that had knit and
various things for hobby, paper and lots of inks.
There I found these beautiful chalk from Mønsklint produced here
in Denmark and the beautiful box made of recycled wood.
These are fine earth tones and these are the ones I have used in my drawing.

I wish you all a fantastic November
Hugs, Susan

Three Times Swimming

Remember that SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges run for 2 months,
November and December. We hope you will come at play with us.

I came across a nice quote or reminder how to get the nicest dinner and I'm thinking of New Year's Eve. It is a tadition with fish this evening here in Denmark.

I love Andy Skinner's Forssils stamps and I wanted to use DecoArt's fluid acrylics
as a watercolor to make them vibrant and I think they
became beautiful in these colors.

I have used: DecoArt media Fluid Acrylics: Cobalt teal hue, Cadmium orange hue,
Quinacridone burnt orange, Dioxazine purple.
Stamps ASCRS11 AS Forssils
Creative Expressions, Andy Skinner Transfers
Black embossing powder
Mini gear dies, Watercolorpaper and black pen.

The card background I have used is my brayer to mix orange,
brown and some purple to get rust color

We hope you will come at play with us at

I wish you all creative and active months and wonderful holidays
until we see each other again. Hugs, Susan

Edgar Allan Poe - With Love

Welcome to SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges in October.

I imagined it was E.A. Poe's book telling his poem about the raven
coming and knocking on his door. His love for the mysterious and macabre,
E.A. Poe has always sent icings through my entire body,
when I read his short stories.

My cardboard book is 10x15 cm.

I've really been playing around with lots of paste and crackle paint,
using my spatula and my fingers to create layers and depth.
In some places I have also used sandpaper

I have used: DecoArt medium Crackle paste, Modeling paste. Crakle paint.
DecoArt medium Fluid Acrylics Translucent White,
Translucent Yellow iron oxide,
Cerulean blue, Titan buff, Quinacridone Gold,
Quinacridone burnt orange and Paynes grey.
DecoArt medium Antiquing cream Carbon black.

TandoCreative Industrial Elements, Andy Skinner

Thin metal and letter punch for metal used for the front. Old book paper, stamps,
jet ink printer used for Poe's photo, pen, cardboard book, acetate and rubons.
Transfer of photos to a prepared acrylic background.
Drawn with black charcoal pencil, Quote: Edgar Allan Poe.

The inspiration I got from a course at Wanderlust with Kat Kerr.

It was hard to photograph and I hope you, my good reader can get a small
impression of how my layers sit in the book.

I send a big October greeting to all of you and hope to see you at
Hugs, Susan

Rules of Summer

I've made a little journal so I can write down my thoughts for this summer.

Walking around the dunes just behind the North Sea and still hearing the waves
hit the beach and feel the fresh air is one of my rules for a great summer.

Finding beach things and picking flowers and leaves that I can use
in my flower press, and saving for winter projects is also one of my rules.

I have used:
DecoArt media:
White gesso, Modeling paste, Crackle paint
DecoArt Crafters Acrylic:
Cinnamon brown, Brilliant blue, Golden brown, Bright orange, Yellow
and Citrus Green
DecoArt media Fluid Acrylics:
Translucent white, Quinacridone Gold, Quinacridone violet

Andy Skinner Stamps: ASCRS06 Toxic, ASCRS11AS Fossils, CEASRS002 Dem Bones
and ASCSA5018
Mixed media Transfers CEAST003

I'm still looking for skeletons of birds and other animals, it's never succeeded.

A really good rule of mine is to find a nice retaurant that serves fresh fish
with new potatoes and parsley sauce.

I started with an A3 watercolor paper that I applied gesso, paste, crackle paint on.
When everything was dry, I tore the pages to the size I have shown here.
Then I painted, drew, stamped and aged the pages.
I sewed the sides together with waxed thread and put beads at the end.

My focal points are stamped on other coarse paper, stitched
with embroidery thread with gauze behind.

Thanks for your patience for my long post, I hope you like my North Sea rules LOL

I hope to see you at the Septemper Challenge

Many loving thoughts to you all
hugs, Susan

*A*J*J* - We are going....Out in nature in the City

Thanks to Chris for a nice theme and your journal page is great.!
This year we will play tourists in our own city, here are many
beautiful places that we usually do not go to.

I started by painting a little landscape with my brayer. My journal lay overnight,
and then in the morning I saw a face ... I think it's mother nature.
There is used pastel and gouache and finally a little with a white pen.

It's a hollyhock taken right by our entrance.

I wish you good summer holidays with wonderful experiences out in the nature.
Thanks for visit my blog. Hugs, Susan

Words to live by - *Art*Journal*Journey* June

Hello Minnesota!
New challenge at **ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* with the host
Halle from Halle's Hobbies...
I experiment with a limited of color group with 4 acrylic colors and pastels that fit.
I have also chosen a neon pink to give a little life.
On two pages I have tried to make some fun.

Why have I written "Embrace the weirdness"
on my flower page, is because sometimes I forget to draw
and paint in my journal, and when I do, it must always be nice
and it must be understandable for those who look at it.
I have to remember to be a little crazy...

We were a trip to the garden "Frederiksberg Have",
which is planted with the finest shrubs, trees and flowers.

A nice rhododendron.

I'll be more free to "make cool things"
In the past I was very bound by what is right and what is wrong,
and there is certainly not something that is right and wrong.
I remember in particular that I was told that you do not mix
the different media like watercolor and black ink an so on.

Well that was a lot of words, hoping you could keep out my talk.
It was a great challenge that came from Minnesota,
thanks to Halle and AJJ it's always exciting to participate.

Thank you for visiting my blog and I wish you a great June
Hugs, Susan

Fragments... June challenge on SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges

A small journal with fragments and thoughts
made with T.H. Sizzix die the matchbook. Size 8x9 cm

Come and play with us at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges.

I love making small journals, this one is with 2 signatures,
and with all the worn and beloved colors from DecoArt.

With all the great journals on the internet I feel very inspired there is something for
everyone's taste and there is nothing right or wrong.

Paste and crackle on my cover, I am so very happy with and the small fragments
and marks on the pages I think it fit really well.

It's fun to play with different marks, it's something that has crept into my
projects during the last few years.

The use of sewing machine and black thread
gives me a great sense for the small fragments

The little things beside my journal are parts of my life that I have had for some years.

All the fine stamps from Andy Skinner are really good for my subject.

The golden and brown burned colors are my favorites

I have used: DecoArt Media White gesso, Crackle paste  and Crackle paint
Americana Decou-page matte
DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics: Quinacridone Gold, Quinacridone Violet,
Quinacridone Brunt Orange, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Teal Hue and Yellow Oxide
Andy Skinner Stamps: ASCRS05 and ASCRS04
Andy Skinner Stencil ANDY107

I hope you liked my little journey even though it was a lot of pictures,
so thank you for sticking out.

Come and play with us at SanDee&amelie's Steampunk Challenges.

I wish you a nice June with good sunshiny days hugs, Susan
