I find it difficult to destroy old things, especially old books, so I have never tried these projects before, but once gotta be the first, and as I said - it's recycling *LOL.
A long time ago I bought several old books, that I would use for art journals. This fit very well to Raise the curtains challenge on SASPC because it had reptile on the cover. Sand, sawdust and lots of dangerous animals, it is real circus!
The front has been given Acrylic Silks.
The inside is distressed and I have kept the paper itself which I think was sufficiently yellowed.
On the opposite page, I used Tim's stencil and Prismacolor after I had cut the audience and the curtains.
The bearded lady, and dangerous animals have always fascinated me. So when I as a gift received a stamp with a bear head, I had to make a combination. I have glued and cut many times to get the right depth.
TA DA - Ladies and gentleman - honorable audience - as sprechstallmeister I'm presenting the flying artist Ann...
and our Greatest Circus Act, The BearWoman ...
I have used the Oxford Impressions, Hero Art, Panduro and Andy Skinner stamps
Tim Holtz embossing folder, stamps, remnants rubs, distress stain, spray stain and ink. Brads, gears, gesso, old book 19,5x13,5 cm, punch and Sizzix Garden Fairy.
I hope you have been inspired by my circus journal, come and play with us on
Raise the curtains challenge on SASPC and we look forward to see your project.
Hugs Susan
